Catalog description

This course emphasizes engineering techniques for predicting yielding, buckling, fracture and fatigue of mechanical systems. Students will be taught how to link theory with practice by examining case studies of structural and mechanical failures and will obtain practical experience in modeling real complex systems in an end-of-term project.
