Catalog description

Prerequisite: EXER 330 . This is an advanced course in clinical exercise testing and prescription relative to disease of the pulmonary, metabolic, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and immunologic systems. The course is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of pathophysiology and exercise responses in these populations. Part of the focus of the course will also be placed on understanding diagnostic techniques and medical and surgical treatments practiced in each of these subcategories. Special attention will be given to applicable exercise assessment techniques used in the laboratory and in clinical exercise settings. Focus on clinical contraindications and safety precautions for each disease and illness will be highlighted. (Formerly 5550:355)
