Catalog description
This course will provide an overview of the process and mechanisms of change, human behavior, and applications of the major foundational theories of counseling and psychotherapy. Learners will focus on the history and integration of foundational theories as they relate to individual psychotherapy, multicultural, developmental, and systemic foundations. A multicultural lens will be used to examine each theoretical framework and evaluate utility based on its culture-bound factors and applicability to diverse populations. The course will examine current trends and evolutions in the practice of counseling. Registration is limited by program of study.
