This course introduces students to the fundamental responsibilities and operations of a modern office environment, focusing on the role of the office professional in today’s evolving workplace. Through a combination of assignments and projects, students will develop key skills in office procedures, human relations, communication, decision-making, and critical thinking. Emphasis will be placed on mastering various office tasks such as professional presence, stress and time management, work ethics, and diversity. Students will learn essential office skills including telephone techniques, call transfers, and message taking, as well as shipping and mail services. Additional topics include current office technology, telecommunications, records management, business correspondence, teamwork, meetings and presentations, travel and conference arrangements, and career development. This comprehensive course prepares students to efficiently organize office duties, manage daily routines, and thrive in professional office settings.
